Commander's brew Episode 251 - The 40 Most Exciting Core Set 2021 Commander Cards

BrewTop1

Core Set 2021 is easily one of the best sets we've seen for Commander in a while. The number of great reprints plus generally useful spells has all of us jazzed about getting these cards into our decks ASAP.

Sure we didn't see a ton of multicolour Commanders in M21, but we did get a pretty sweet box topper in Rin and Seri, Inseparable. Radha, Heart of Keld and Niambi, Esteemed Speaker give us some interesting takes on familiar themes. The mono-coloured legends are even better with WOTC finally breaking down and giving us a reasonable card draw engine in white with Mangara, the Diplomat and reprinting the always needed effect that Azusa, Lost but Seeking gives the game.

Other notable reprints include Solemn Simulacrum, Grim Tutor and even Cultivate has EDH players stoked to crack packs of this set. Despite these great reprints and more, though my favourite card in the whole set is a new blue card called Sublime Epiphany. A counterspell that also gives you about five other effects is unreal in our format even at six mana. Getting full value from this card isn't even that hard. Do you have a creature on the board and did the opponent casting a spell cause an ability to trigger? If so you can activate every mode of Sublime Epiphany - I love it.

There are so many fun things here like Shrines are back! Not to mention a five-colour shrine lord that sadly isn't a creature (what were they thinking?). But mark my words if we ever sit at a Commander table together and you want to run Sanctum of All as your Commander, I support you!

Chromatic Orrery, Brash Taunter, Heroic Intervention, Massacre Wurm, and Fiery Emancipation are just a few other super exciting cards I know I'll be throwing into decks as soon as the set drops. But enough from me, check out the list of the forty most exciting cards from Core Set 2021!
