An Eye for Ugin

It’s everybody’s favourite time of year, spoiler season. Khans of Tarkir was an amazing set, and I think everyone is paying particularly close attention to Fate Reforged spoilers because of this. Wizards decided to kick things off this season with a HUGE new planeswalker that we have had yet to see in card form: Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. Good lord that’s big. This card is no joke people....

Defending Boss Sligh

I am here today to defend one of my favourite decks in Standard: Boss Sligh. Mono Red decks like Boss Sligh tend to get a bad reputation for being budget lists for those without other options. Just because a deck is cheap, however, doesn't mean that it can't be skill testing and competitive. Just remember: Anybody can win with , but it takes a master to win with red draft cards. KTK Draft Commons: The Good, The Bad, and The Surprising

Limited formats are mainly defined by their commons. Cards like and are what shape and define Khans of Tarkir limited, even if its the blowouts that we remember more vividly. Knowing the value of your commons is key to succeeding in any draft format. Several recent sets have had commons that were better than most uncommons and many rares in draft: in Return to Ravnica, in Gatecrash, and arguably...

Devotion to Simic (Yisan’s Toolbox)

First, let’s talk about the green devotion deck. It’s a very powerful deck that can easily generate enough mana to play a 20/20 or be able to use as a one-sided board wipe. However, relying heavily on creatures tends to make the deck weak against disruption, often leaving it with a bunch of mana dorks, and nothing to do with them. The deck has also very little disruption effects of its own,...
