Keranos, God of Storms – Gods, Monsters, and Super Friends
Welcome god #2 of Journey into Nyx, nice to meet you!
Keranos, God of Storms represents a god with an amazingly powerful ability, let’s check it out.
Keranos, God of Storms has an ability I would call a win-win situation. Have a land on top of your deck, draw an extra card. Have anything else, you can choose to pick off an opponent’s creature or deal 3 straight to the head. Where the real power of Keranos, God of Storms comes in is if we have the ability to manipulate or have knowledge of the top of our deck. This spawns the inspiration for the following deck:
Gods, Monsters, and Super Friends
This deck uses a couple of tried and true methods for gaining an advantage:
Get tons of mana
Courser of Kruphix allows you to draw extra lands from on top of your deck to make sure you hit your land drops on every turn. Domri Rade allows you to draw extra creatures from the top of your deck. Kiora, the Crashing Wave allows you draw an extra card and also play an extra land drop during your turn. Garruk, Caller of Beasts can gain you a heavy card advantage by helping you draw some of the 27 creatures in your deck. Then there is Keranos, God of Storms.
Deck Manipulation is what makes Keranos, God of Storms even a bigger threat in this deck. Being able to know what card is on top of your deck will allow you take advantage of Keranos’ ability if you are wanting to either get card advantage or to leave something on top of your deck so that you can push through those last points of damage or to kill a creature.
So yes, there is little to no chance of Keranos, God of Storms ever reaching its devotion level of seven, but its ability alone is enough to make it a viable card. I look forward of letting Gods, Monsters, and Super Friends run wild when Journey into Nyx releases on May 2nd.
