Commander Monday: Top Five Shadows Over Innistrad Cards

anguish461

I know I'm not alone when I say Shadows Over Innistrad is a home run, and that it may very well be one of the best sets since the original Innistrad block. The set is oozing with flavour, and practically every rare spoiled makes me wanna try something out with them. So today, I'm going to break down my favourite cards that have been spoiled so far, for Commander purposes of course.  I also have no idea why I happen to like the white and black cards so much, I'm sure cards in other colours will be worthy of my love. As per usual, I skipped discussing the various spoiled Planeswalkers, because they tend to speak for themselves and can always find a home in the format.

This card seems really sweet, you get to keep it through hand hate, such as Mind Twist or Liliana of the Veil and quite frankly, I feel it's going to draw a lot more cards than it seems. My Lyzolda, the Blood Witch tends to either run out of steam quickly, or have a hand of thirty by turn five. In the event of the latter, this card can at least be used to draw cards off of  Skullclamp, if I'm out of fuel they're gonna make more pretty quickly.

It's like a Ghostway, but doesn't kill my tokens. That alone makes me very happy. It can't be used for creatures that have Shroud, which I'm sure will be awkward from time to time, but all in all I think this is a very strong and satisfying utility card.

Well, I play Final Judgment  in many white decks, so a strictly better one? Count me in!

Oh how I love me some tutors, this one doesn't seem amazing at first, unless you have an empty hand. But if you run it in decks that focus on abusing the graveyard, such as Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord or Meren of Clan Nel Toth it adds a lot of value to the tutor. I mean who doesn't want to discard an Eldrazi and reanimate it with Sheoldred, Whispering One?

Holy amazing removal Batman! One of the best, if not the best removal spell ever printed for this format. It puts Vindicate to shame in a format where the life loss is absolutely negligible, and instant speed exile any nonland permanent is just absurd. Not really much else to say about this thing, just absolutely fantastic card.

Hope you all enjoy these cards as much as I plan to, I'll be back next week with another deck list. Thanks for reading.
