Daily Dose of Battle for Zendikar – Standard Deck Tech – Kiora meet Sarkhan, Sarkhan meet the Eldrazi!

Welcome all to another edition of the Daily Dose of Battle for Zendikar! Today we will be doing a Standard Deck Tech involving some large scary nasty creatures. Temur has always been one of my favorite colors to want to make a great deck with. There seems to be a lot of tools in place to make this successful thanks to some of the new cards from Battle for Zendikar. Let’s take a look at Temur meets Eldrazi.

The main function of the deck is to get large creatures onto the battlefield either through mana ramping or sneak them in with cards like See the Unwritten. There are three mains types of cards in this deck: Big Creatures, Mana Ramping, Cards to help get you to the late game. Let’s first take a look at some of those big creatures at your disposal.

Big Creatures
The Eldrazi – Void Winnower, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, and Oblivion Sower – Needless to say that these large Eldrazi will be hard to deal with once on the battlefield. They do have advantages when being cast (Oblivion Sower, Ulamog) and they are also strong just being on the battlefield (Void Winnower, Ulamog’s attacking trigger)
Greenwarden of Murasa – Being able to get some cards back from your graveyard to either get back fetchlands or early-to-mid creatures will help you get there. Being a 5/4 it doesn’t hurt.
Dragonlord Atarka – This is definitely a beast of a creature that can win games by itself and also clear out your opponent’s board as well. A great See the Unwritten target for sure.
Omnath, Locus of Rage – Thanks to the number of fetchlands you have in this deck, if you happen to get Omnath in play, it can start to do some major damage.
Surrak, the Hunt Caller – Used in collaboration with the above mentioned large creatures to get them attacking and dealing damage immediately.

Mana Ramping
Nissa, Vastwood Seer – This will help you get that added mana needed to ramp to those big creatures and then transform into a card drawing/ramping machine in planeswalker form.
Rattleclaw Mystic – Needless to say this can get you any color mana you need for this deck, and will help you get to 6-mana quickly.
From Beyond – This will not only help you ramp your mana, but will give you some 1/1’s that could be needed to prevent damage until the big creatures come out. If you don’t have one in your hand, you can sacrifice From Beyond to get one of our Eldrazi friends.
Fetchlands – They will help you get any color mana needed.

Cards to help get you to the late game
Jace, Vryn’s Prodigy – This will allow you to keep drawing cards you need to help you achieve the goal of this deck. Don’t worry about getting tons of cards in your graveyard. You have plenty of creatures that can get back key ones to your hand if needed.
Bounding Krasis – A great early creature that can be used to tap down attackers, block in a pinch, and get you more Jace activations to boot. A crucial part of the early game for this deck.
Savage Knuckleblade – A 4/4 hard to kill creature that will help you trigger Ferocious for your See the Unwritten as well. An early threat which could soak up some removal before the big guns come out.
Den Protector – A versatile card that will allow you to get back any key pieces that might be in your graveyard, such as See the Unwritten,

removal spells, and mana ramping.
Removal Spells – Temur Charm, Wild Slash, Radiant Flames – Enough said here. This will help you remove the early game threats that you opponent brings out to help you get to the late game.
See the Unwritten – A very key card that has the chance to get your two large creatures onto the battlefield and winning the game for you. Casting this on turn 6 if not sooner could be devastating for your opponent.
Ugin’s Insight – Needless to say there is a possibility to have some large creatures on the battlefield. This will allow you to use Ugin’s Insight to get you 3 very valuable cards from the top of your deck to turn things in your favor.
Planeswalkers – Sarkhan Unbroken, Kiora Master of the Depths – These will allow you to draw the cards needed to continue to ramp, ramp, and ramp up to big creatures!
